PassportCable

The Initiative

We are standardizing the data models for the nervous system of industrial automation.

PassportCable was initiated to bridge the gap between abstract EU regulations (ESPR) and the harsh, dirty reality of industrial cabling. A generic passport standard designed for t-shirts and smartphones fails when applied to a multi-core PUR drag-chain cable.

Our Principles

  • Open & Decentralized: The schema is open source. The infrastructure relies on W3C standards, not proprietary databases.
  • Hardware Context: We account for the physical constraints of marking cables (curvature, abrasion, dirty environments).
  • Lifecycle Focus: A cable is dynamic. The passport must accommodate operational telemetry, not just manufacturing specs.
