How we digitize 14 billion meters of physical infrastructure without creating a centralized point of failure.
Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs)
A cable assembly cannot rely on a single vendor's database remaining active for 30 years. Our implementation uses W3C standard DIDs to ensure that the identity of the cable outlasts the manufacturer.
| Method | Resilience | Cost per scan |
|---|---|---|
| Proprietary API | Low (Vendor Lock-in) | $0.001 |
| W3C DID (PassportCable) | High (Decentralized) | $0.000 |
Data Storage & IPFS
The JSON-LD payload containing the Bill of Materials (BOM) and compliance documents is hashed and pinned to the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). This guarantees that the spec sheet you read in 2045 is exactly the one published in 2024.

Physical Anchoring
How do we connect the physical cable to the digital passport? We support multiple anchoring methods depending on the environment.
- NFC Tags: Molded directly into the connector overmold (IP67+ rated).
- 2D DataMatrix: Laser-etched onto the connector shell or printed on the jacket at 1-meter intervals.
- UHF RFID: For bulk scanning of spools in warehouse environments.
