End-of-Life Recovery
Shredding cables is a violent, inaccurate process. Data makes it surgical.
The Current Crisis
Currently, recyclers visually inspect cables or use imprecise spectroscopic sorting. If they cannot identify a jacket material, the entire batch risks downcycling. High-grade OFC copper gets mixed with standard copper. Halogenated plastics contaminate clean streams.
The Passport Solution
A recycler scans the identifier on the cable drum or assembly. The passport instantly returns:
- 1. Exact copper grade and mass.
- 2. Jacket polymer type (e.g., separating PVC from TPU).
- 3. Presence of cross-linked polymers (which require different processing).
- 4. Manufacturer's recommended separation instructions.
